A DATE TO BE REMEMBERED
Sampie Landman, born 1929 and now 89 years of age, married Hester Landman, now 93 years of age.
On the 17th September they had been married for an astonishing 69 years. Sampie Landman met Hester when he was only 16 years of age. He started working at the South African Railway as a stoker. After some time he drove diesel trains from Braamfontein to Zeerust. Sampie and Hester Landman have nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Sampie and Hester Landman had a good and healthy life, and did all their own work up to now, even driving their own car.
The most amazing thing is that Carol Hefer, the youngest and only daughter and her husband,
Chris Hefer, got married on the 17th September 1977, now married 41 years. Carol’s eldest son, Shawn Hefer, got married to his wife Erika on the 17th September 2005, now married for 13 years. And finally, Carol’s brother, Norman Landman, the youngest of the three sons, got married to Emmie Landman on the 17th September 2013, now married for 5 years.
Now, that’s a date to remember!
